Summary of Desk Dream Fighter VR

The story begins with the player, up late in their office, working at their desk, typing words that appear on the screen. After typing words for a while, the player gets tired and begins to fall asleep and dream. They wake up to the sounds of alarms blaring and find themselves in the cockpit of a spaceship with a keyboard taking up the dashboard. The player must type as many words as they can as the enemies slowly draw closer, with words appearing over their ships.
My inspiration comes from Typing of the Dead and Arcade shooter concepts, all
combined into VR.

For a bit of fun and a test, I also decided to add Haptics to the project. I had just gotten my hands on them a little before I started.

The Concept art to the side was the first thought I had about the project. One of them shows the spaceship's dashboard, and the other shows some of the first iteration of the enemies, which slowly move towards the ship.
360 Videos were also added to the project to use as environments, providing scene movement without adding extra animations.

This image shows you the 360 Video and the enemy in front of the player with a word over their head.

In the future, I hope to use more vibrant colors to better see the enemies. Because this is a 2D image, it can be hard to tell exactly what something is in VR.
I decided early on that tracking was going to be the way to go for this project, since this was all going to be typing-based.

Typing with a controller can be slow and inaccurate, but hand tracking offers greater control and a more immersive experience.

It also allowed me to use haptic gloves since it can be hard to hold controllers with haptics. This made it so the player could feel every key typed.

As this game is still in a prototype stage, there is much more I want to add to make the experience better and more enjoyable. The Art and core gameplay could be approved on, and the audio can be reworked. I hope to continually work on it to one day release it for others to play.
